Chamonix, Mont Blanc.70 Ans de Sports D'hiver. Winter Sport Poster
This poster takes up and uses an old and emblematic poster, produced by Abel Faivre in 1905, to commemorate the 70 years of the arrival of winter sports in Chamonix. It depicts a blonde woman in a green dress and coat, mounted on skis and holding a long stick, sliding down a snow slope. In the background, a snow-capped mountain range is represented and it could be an evocation of Mont Blanc. The original poster was published by the Paris-Lyon-Mediterranean railway company (PLM) around 1905, at the time when the craze for winter sports began and this one, certainly published in the 1970s -1980 evokes with this quote the 70 years of these new hobbies. Another version of this poster had already been published for the 60th anniversary of winter sports.
Great Fun, 1920s Vintage Poster.
