Dave Brubeck Jazz Poster
Dave Brubeck was an American jazz pianist who was a major composer and innovator of modern jazz music. He is considered one of the foremost performers of cool jazz, jazz music with a lighter tone and a more moderate tempo. Brubeck's compositions often employed unusual time signatures, rhythms, and tones. As the bandleader of The Dave Brubeck Quartet, he was instrumental in popularizing this new form of jazz, creating hits such as his 1959 song "Take Five," which became the best-selling jazz single ever. Additionally, the album Time Out, where "Take Five" was a single, became the first album to sell over one million copies. Brubeck's music both pushed the boundaries of jazz and was accessible, making his work commercially successful, critically lauded, and influential to future jazz players.
