Winter in Davos Swiss Travel Poster by BURKHARD MANGOLD 1914
Winter in Davos Swiss Travel Poster by BURKHARD MANGOLD 1914
BURKHARD MANGOLD (1873-1950) WINTER - IN - DAVOS. 1914.
Printed in J.E. Wolfensberger, Zurich.
Burkhard Mangold's artistic career covered several areas, including painting, stained glass, and poster design. In 1905, he began working with the inimitable Swiss printing house Wolfensberger and soon became one of the pioneers of modern Swiss poster art. This brightly-colored, carefree image is one of his most fluid designs, in which the swirls on the ice indicate the skaters' movement, moving too fast to be contained entirely within the poster itself. It is an "audacious and dynamic composition" and "one of the flagship works of Swiss poster art."
This is the reproduction of the original poster.
