VINTAGE TRAVEL POSTER BY LORENZI CIRCA 1930 - NICE
Original vintage travel poster realized by Lorenzi Circa 1930, Nice
Printed by : Imp De L'Eclaireur De Nice
This original travel poster promoting Nice in 1928 was designed by the Florentine artist Fabius Lorenzi (1880-1964). The art-deco painting captures the zeitgeist of the end of the Roaring Twenties by depicting the Nice boardwalk built in 1882, later destroyed in 1944. Inspired by London’s Crystal Park, the destination offered visitors an extension to the Promenade des Anglais together with a concert hall, a theatre, and a casino. Lorenzi’s poster is true to the style of the time, but the artist adds his own unique personality through his choice of color tones that would go on to inspire the Pop-Art scene. This vintage poster, commissioned by Nice’s tourist office following the modernization of the city between the Opera and the Boulevard Gambetta, was published and printed as a lithograph by l’Eclaireur. It's exceptionally refined and elegant, with the flower girl with her local Provencal dress beautifully capturing the spirit of the South of France.
